Take me home country roads....

Now, when I say I'm a country girl...I don't mean I wear boots and a cowboy(girl) hat and holler "git along lil' doggies"...not that I would mind doing that.....I do own boots, but they are Sketchers and bought simply cause I liked them...I wear them a lot in the winter....also...I do not under normal circumstances listen to country music....unless you take into account the Christian Kane and Taylor Swift songs on my mp3 player...I did grow up listening to it and can....in a voice that would probably set the cows off in a stampede...belt out some Garth Brooks, Reba McEntire, and Randy Travis if I hear it....oh and Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers too...LOL

no, when I say...I'm a country girl....I  mean I grew up in the country....outside of town, surrounded by trees and nature....where the frogs croaked at night, the whippoorwills sang, and my sister would end up at least once a summer, covered in seed ticks (she was like a tick magnet...I tell ya)....
thanks to Google maps I can show you where...but...you see all those houses?....they weren't there when I lived up there...no sirree bob....lets take a closer look...
it's the one with the U-shaped drive...the house next door (which didn't get built till I was a teenager)....can't be seen because of the trees...oh the lovely, lovely trees....just look, they are EVERYWHERE.....how I miss those trees...

I went up there to look several years ago...and it's just not the same anymore...sigh....but I still have the memories of  it....of the red tailed hawks nesting across the valley....watching them through Dad's telescope....being out on the back deck and the wind blowing (that back deck was quite high)....riding my bike up and down the dirt road....going barefoot (this is probably why I hate wearing shoes...LOL)....falling asleep in the summer to the sound of the bugs and frogs....sleeping on the back porch sometimes in summer, when it was hot in the house....

and that...that is why I'm a country girl....
