Donuts...or is it doughnuts?....either way....these are awesome...

Today is the Squirrel butts first official day of summer freedom....and I thought I'd commemorate that occasion by making them something they love, but haven't had in a while...donuts....doughnuts...whatever...

I got the recipe from The Pioneer Woman....if you haven't seen her site...she's awesome...here is the recipe

The Pioneer Woman's Homemade Glazed Doughnuts

I'm not going to bore you with my photos of the process...because 1. I was being "helped" by a 9 year old Squirrel butt...and they aren't known for their skills, and 2. I don't have a Kitchen Aid mixer (sob, sniff, sob)....so I had to mix it by hand...leaving no free fingers for clicking the button on the camera...and 3. Her pictures are so much better than mine would be....

I will however show you the finished product....I learned a few things that I will improve upon next time...but....when your kiddo comes to you and asks for "another one of your succulent doughnuts".....you know you did something right...LOL

some of the doughnuts (donuts...whatever) had already been eaten....we also made the doughnut holes and coated half in glaze and half in plain powdered sugar....I had one of both....they were good...(that is all I had...ok, I'm not a doughnut person....so I am not eating more...the kids are doing that for me)

we only glazed them once....that seems to be enough for the kids....they keep eating them...yes, I realize I will have hyperactive lunatics on my hands later....but...it's okay...I have duct tape...and a couple of chairs....LOL

I apologize for this last picture ahead of time....some of you might try to reach through the monitor and grab the doughnut/donut/whatever....

if you love doughnuts/donuts/whatever....you should give these a try....they are a little time consuming...but since my boys have informed me I am the most Awesome Mom Ever....I would say they are definitely worth it....
